In a heartwarming display of Christ-like compassion, the Adventist Community Services (ACS) of the Sandy Park Seventh-day Adventist Church, in collaboration with the East Jamaica Conference (EJC) ACS Federation, presented 10 mobility canes to Conrad Harris, Executive Director of the Jamaica Society for the Blind (JSB) on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

The presentation was a highlight of the EJC Week of Generosity, demonstrating how practical ministry and spiritual care go hand in hand to bless our community.

Over Eight Years of Continuous Ministry

This recent donation builds upon a deep, long-standing relationship between the Sandy Park SDA Church and the JSB. For over eight years, the Sandy Park ACS team has faithfully served the students through a dedicated soup kitchen initiative.

Deepening this impact even further, the team recently launched weekly morning devotions held every Thursday before the students begin their classes. Through these initiatives, our members are providing nourishment for both the body and the soul.

Christ Lifted Through Generosity & Empowering Independence

Ten students from the Jamaica Society for the Blind were the direct recipients of the mobility canes. These essential tools are designed to provide greater freedom, safety, and confidence as the students navigate the bustling streets and manage their everyday routines.

Speaking on the impact of the initiative, church and federation leaders emphasized that the donation was more than a physical handout—it was a manifestation of divine guidance and a reflection of Christ's character through selfless giving. The team expressed deep gratitude to God Almighty and the leading of the Holy Spirit for granting discernment and the awesome privilege to be used by Him in such a tangible way. Christ was lifted up when His character was displayed through generosity.

Conference and Local Leaders Stand Together

The handover ceremony brought together leadership from across the conference and local church network to celebrate this milestone. Attendees included the President of EJC, Pastor Dr. Melvin Francis; Vice President, Pastor Sebert Hamilton; Director of the EJC ACS Federation, Pastor Sheldon Schooler; Federation President Elder Lorna Fowler; and Vice President & Sandy Park ACS Director, Beverly Campbell, along with representatives from the Sandy Park ACS and EJC ACS Federation.

A Call to Continued Faithfulness

As we reflect on the success of the EJC Week of Generosity, let us remember that our call to serve does not end here. In Matthew 25:40, Jesus reminds us, "In as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

May we continue to seek the Holy Spirit's guidance each day, looking for opportunities to lift Christ up in our communities. Let us stay fervent in prayer and faithful in service, ensuring that our hands remain ready to extend the love, mercy, and character of our Saviour to those around us.
