The East Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (EJC) is celebrating three of its own who were honoured for their long-standing service to the Youth Ministries Department at the Adventist Youth Congress, held on Sabbath, September 26, 2026, at the West Jamaica Conference.
The afternoon Adventist Youth (AY) programme was more than just a gathering of young people, leaders, and youth ministry enthusiasts. It was an opportunity to celebrate individuals whose dedication, passion, and behind-the-scenes commitment have helped keep the flame of youth ministry burning brightly.
Under the inspiring theme “Glow: Go Light Your World,” the Congress reminded attendees that shining for Christ is not merely about making a grand entrance or having a moment in the spotlight. Sometimes, the brightest lights are those who have served consistently, encouraged quietly, mentored faithfully, and helped generations of young people discover their God-given purpose.
Long-standing service is reflected in the early mornings, late-night planning sessions, camp meetings, Pathfinder drills, last-minute van rides, and the patience of leaders who continue to show up. These individuals have done more than keep the lights on; they have helped ignite new lights, one young person at a time.
Representing EJC, three distinguished awardees were recognised for their years of dedicated service to youth ministry.

“I am deeply humbled and grateful to receive this meaningful recognition from JAMU. I sincerely appreciate the YM team for their support, encouragement, and partnership throughout my journey.
Above all, I am thankful for God's extraordinary favour, grace, and faithfulness.
I am grateful for the opportunity to use my gifts to make a meaningful difference, and I remain committed to always giving my very best in service to the Master.”

Andre Campbell was honoured for more than 20 years of service to youth ministry. He currently serves as Drum Corps Major for the East Jamaica Conference and as an elder in his local church.
Pastor Marvyn Smith, the newly appointed Associate Youth Director of the Inter-American Division (IAD), brought the day to life with a fun, high-energy presentation. He reminded the young people in attendance that a light is never meant to be kept to itself and cannot be hidden—a principle that the awardees have demonstrated through their years of faithful service.

Reflecting on their contributions, Pastor Joel Jumpp, Youth Ministries Director for the East Jamaica Conference, shared:
“Aunty Christine, Latiya, and Andre are the gasoline that keeps the EJC Youth Ministries Department going. There is no mountain too high or ocean too deep for them. They stand ready to go above and beyond the call of duty at a moment's notice. Serving with them is a blessing.”
To our three honourees, thank you for the time, energy, laughter, and faith you have poured into the next generation. You have helped make the East Jamaica Conference a brighter place, showing a new generation of young people how to do the same.
Keep shining! We are proud of you.
